Tamiya TL01 chassis model car - Toyota Supra

The chassis closed up and ready for the next steps.

The prop shaft in the TL01 is made from steel. Nylon bevel gears are fitted front and rear.
Suspension consists of double wishbones (lower wisbone, upper control arm) at all four corners of the model. These are not adjustable for camber on the TL01 model car chassis.
The coil over shocks on the car are fitted with friction dampers instead of oil filled units. These incorporate a rubber sleeve in which a screw moves up and down thus providing the friction damping. Proper oil filled shock absorbers are available to fit the car.

The Tamiya TL01 uses dogbone driveshafts all round, these are fitted to steel stub axles.
Track rods are not adjustable for toe in but adjustable units are available as hop up parts. As standard the TL01 chassis has a fair amount of front toe in. A plastic servo saver is fitted to the servo.
Identical front and rear bumpers are fitted to the chassis. These also keep the chassis halfs from flexing apart when fitted.
The kit comes with a 540 motor as standard and a 19 tooth aluminium motor pinion gear. The chassis provides location holes for 21 tooth and 23 tooth motor pinions for use with different motors.
|
Kit tyres are rubber like slicks, these are fitted to spoked one piece plastic wheels. No foam inserts came with these wheels.
Any standard 1/10th scale model touring car hexagon hub wheels and tyres would be suitable for the model. I've used Ripmax wheels and tyres to good effect.
