Inside the box.
The model uses the well tried TL01 chassis.
|
Tamiya's Toyota Supra 1/10th scale model touring car is based around the 4 wheel drive TL01 chassis. The car features a superb lexan body shell which accurately reproduces the lines and colours of the Toms Toyota Supra which raced in the Japanese touring car series during 2000.
The kit includes everything to build the model car except the paint, radio control and battery pack. In the version I bought an electronic forward and reverse speed control was included in the kit.
The plastic bearings that come with the kit were discarded in favour of ballraces, 24 are required in total, all of which are 5x4x11 ballraces.

The model uses a polycarbonate monocoque chassis
One piece standard hexagon hub wheels.
Tyres require glueing to the wheel after fitting.

The main chassis components on the TL01
|
The TL01 chassis is a simple and robust design. It uses three polycarbonate mouldings for the main monocoque chassis member. The gearboxes are elegantly incorporated into these main parts.
Geared differential units are fitted to the car, one at the front and another at the rear. The model does not have a centre diff. Construction of the differentials is straightforward, a combination of nylon and metal parts are used.

|
Diff. units. The TL01 uses bevel geared differentials.
|
Chassis members are joined together with self tapping screws, most of the TL01 is screwed together by self tappers so care is needed to avoid stripping threads or cross threading.
