Tamiya Toyota Supra TL01 based model car pictures and information

The finished TL01 chassis of the Supra in standard kit form. To get to this stage took around 4 or 5 hours of easy enjoyable building. The car is fitted out with a set of Futaba 2 channel radio control with a S3003 steering servo.

The toughest and most time consuming job on this model is the preparation of the car's bodyshell. This comes as a lexan (polycarbonate) vacuum formed moulding which requires careful trimming to achieve a good finished body. I used a combination of a sharp knife and a pair of scissors, most work being done with the knife.
The hardest parts to trim on the bodyshell are the wheel arches. Great care was taken not to slip with the knife and cut into the cars shell.

When trimmed the bodyshell needs to be washed in detergent to degrease it prior to spraying on the inside with lexan compatible paint (many ordinary paints make lexan brittle).
